Baduy Lines Forever
meLOOKmeL is proudly inspired by the simplicity of lines and grids found in many Baduy textiles, and give the highest appreciation to the complexity of the entire creation process – from natural dyeing to weaving.
Some of the most common Baduy patterns include Aros (simple parallel stripes), Suat Songket (decorative combination of squares, grids and lines), Adu Mancung (rows of cross-facing triangles), and Tajur Pinang (chain-like pattern from closely combined dashed lines).

Melanie is a designer by nature, an architect by education, and a senior executive by experience.
She fully dedicates her passion to art and design through the exploration of artistic Indonesian treasures, and one day fell in love with the simple characteristics of handwoven Baduy textiles. Her love and responsibility to sustain Indonesian artistic treasures motivates her to work together with local artists to develop modern takes of traditional pieces, without losing its authentic characteristics.
